Robots at War: the New Battlefield
There is talk about a new way of war that is near because robots and drones are already; replacing human pilots and foot soldiers in some roles and people feel that they will take over many more. There are numerous benefits of removing human soldiers from harm’s way, and they are obvious. However, there is a large price to pay when our society or a society can wage war by remote control.
There are EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) teams that hunt for explosives to suppress roadside bombings in Iraq. There is little warning to the danger of Iraqi soldiers that lay ambushes with great cunning ambitions against our troops. A typical tour in Iraq each EOD team goes to 600 calls, defusing or safely exploding about two devices a day. If the EOD team had robots to do their jobs, there would be fewer fatalities for the US while at war.
I feel that this writer did know quite a bit about the topic, however; he was completely bias throughout the whole article. He could have done a better job of portraying the information if he had not given his opinion about every two lines.
